DIY bubble party kit: what it actually costs
Some links on this page earn Bubbalooza a commission at no cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
Bubble parties are the cheapest real DIY option in either category — toddler-appropriate, low-mess, and the whole core kit costs less than a single accessory on the foam side. Prices below come from the same dataset behind our bubble machine comparison, not invented totals. If you're weighing this against hiring an entertainer, this is the real DIY floor to compare it to.
The cheapest complete path
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Zerhunt Automatic Bubble Machine | $18.99 | Battery-powered and portable; vendor states 20,000+ bubbles/min with 2 speed levels. Cheapest machine in our dataset. Shop on Amazon → |
| Fubbles Bubble Solution 64oz | $12.99 | Ready-to-use, non-toxic, no dyes — includes a bubble cap and wand, so nothing extra to buy to start. View at Fubbles → |
Running total: about $32 for a working machine-plus-solution setup, using current prices from our dataset — check the listings for today's price, since both can move.
Want a steadier reservoir?
The Kidzlane trades a couple dollars for a larger, no-tip reservoir — a reviewer-tested pick if you'd rather not refill mid-party:
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Kidzlane Bubble Machine | $20.99-$24.99 | Vendor states 500-1000 bubbles/min; large reservoir and no-tip design per reviewer testing. Shop on Amazon → |
| Fubbles Bubble Solution 64oz | $12.99 | Same solution as above. View at Fubbles → |
Running total: $34-$38 for the machine-plus-solution combo.
Or mix your own solution for close to free
If you already have dish soap and glycerin at home, the Exploratorium's published formula — 1 gallon water to 2/3 cup dish soap to 2-3 tablespoons glycerin — can bring your solution cost down to whatever the machine alone costs. Full ratios and troubleshooting in our DIY bubble solution guide, or scale a batch to your guest count with the bubble solution calculator.
Is it safe?
- Eyes: bubble solution can sting — keep water or a wet cloth on hand for a quick rinse.
- Slippery surfaces: popped bubbles leave a soapy film on hard surfaces — a splash mat under the machine helps toddlers keep their footing.
- Supervision: an adult should be actively watching the whole time, especially with the youngest guests.
What the running total doesn't include
Both totals above cover machine and solution only. Giant-bubble wands, a dipping tray, mini bubble bottles for favors, and a toddler splash mat round out a full setup — see the full bubble party supplies list for every category with buy links, or browse bubble party supplies on eBay →
DIY vs. hiring
At this price point, buying almost always beats hiring for a single party — see the full pricing table in our bubble party cost guide for what entertainers actually charge, or our full setup guide for running the party start to finish once you've got the gear.
